Below is my Action Research Project Planning Template. In my new position as lead teacher for my school, I will be responsible for this class of 2016 cohort. This project will be dynamic in that students will need credit recovery throughout the school year, so adjustments will be made as the data indicates.
Action Planning Template
|
||||
Background: Students who have completed their first
year of high school have failed to receive the necessary class credits to
stay on track to graduate in four years. During the 2013-2014 school year,
instructional strategies will be implemented to assist the 2016 cohort earn
the credits needed to be consider juniors at the end of the school year.
Goal: How will implementing instructional interventions
and strategies (including credit
recovery/grade repair) impact the number of students who make satisfactory
progress and will be on-track to graduate in 2016

Your plan is great! You have laid out a rather comprehensive plan that seems well thought out and sincere in its approach. Congratulations on your role of lead teacher for 2016 cohort, I know you'll be awesome. I'm impressed at the depth you have already explored in your situation, and this preventative maintenance should pay off in great scores with your cohort!
ReplyDeleteYou really are good at adding details, I struggled adding the details to my plan. I love that you are helping students get back on track for a 4 year graduation. Some students would be quick to give up if they have to think about going to high school another year. I would suggest you add in an action concerning motivating these students or maybe motivation sessions with individual students or a group motivation session. These students are taking on more coursework, usually, then the normal student and that has to be hard for them. Other then remembering to motivate the students, everything looks great!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic! I agree with Heather that it is very detailed. I feel that because of that you will be very organized and on top of your project. I also agree with the addition of a section! Sounds like a good idea. Also when you say "conduct student/parent surveys" do you need to include how you will conduct them? Ill post mine tonight if you could please look! :-D thanks!
ReplyDeleteThat is 200x more detailed and thought out at the moment than mine! Looks like you will be ready to hit the ground running when school starts. I did notice that you are basically doing this all by yourself. Perhaps it may be wise to create a small team to work with so the work can be spread out a little bit.
ReplyDeleteWow, great plan and very thorough! The only thing I wonder about is in your goal statement you ask about the impact of implementing instructional strategies and interventions on the students, but I don't see in your plan where these kids will be getting these strategies and interventions. Is this part included in the sections where you put "change student schedules?" Other than that question, your plan looks absolutely fantastic. Very detailed!! Good Luck :)
ReplyDeleteIts evident you put in a lot of time to carefully plan out your entire year. I am curious to know a couple of things to understand your plan better. As lead teacher, will you have classes to teach as well? Will you be spear-heading the entire inquiry alone or will you have someone helping you?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I suggest you share your progress with other teachers and the administration team throughout the year. There are lots of meetings with students and parents; should teachers also be aware of these studnets as well?
Overall, great start for your inquiry!
Wow! Great Job! I can tell that you put lots of thought and detail into your plan. I can see where you are addressing the needs of these students. This has been an issue at my school district and I feel that it correlates with discipline issues. That's why I chose to do my action research in regards to discipline. I hope everything goes great for you in the remainder of your courses!
